El bosque nublado

This morning, we were up bright and early to head to "Monteverde Extremo Canopy" (aka zipling). I'm afraid of heights, and this particular course is known for it's height. We all had to be harnessed up before we could go anywhere. I thought we were only going on one zipline, but no! The course included 13 ziplines, rapelling, and a Tarzan Swing. We were so high up in the mountains that we were eye level with the clouds. Several of the ziplines actually took you soaring through the clouds! It was very neat to watch because you could see the person take off and then they would eventually dissapear into the cloud.

As a child, I always wondered what it would be like to be in a cloud or on a cloud. Would it be like a marshmallow? I think being in a cloud is something you have to experience to truly understand the feeling, but I loved it! All I could see around me was the cloud, but if I looked down, I could see the land (which looked like it was miles away.) It was a feeling like none other to know I was so high in the sky; I wasn't even afraid of the altitude. In fact it was a somewhat liberating experience.

Unfortunately the fun eventually had to come to an end, so once we finished the course, we headed towards Samara. Of course it was raining, because I feel like anytime we travel somewhere, it rains before we arrive. Our new "Mama Tica" came to pick us up. Her name is Nuria. She is married, and has two 7 year old twin girls and a 15 year old son. Lindsay and I got our own "apartment." (It's basically like the home is a duplex and we have half.) So I feel like there won't be much interaction between us and the family except when we go to their house for breakfast and dinner. There is also no hot water in the home, nor is there internet. I believe I have been spoiled by our Mama Tica back in Heredia, but on the bright side, we are at the beach!
